This. Recruiting rankings are for shite. As Paul Johnson said today only 44% of 5 star players out of high school actually started for their team since 2005.
GT plays UGA every year and while GT isn't nearly as successful as I would like, UGA only wins by an average of 7 points with a couple outlier blow outs. In other words GTs average class rank of 45 vs. UGAs top 10 would suggest a larger talent gap than the scores actually indicate.
Now, GT certainly doesn't have quality depth when a year of injuries occur such as this past year but that was a freak of a year for injuries. We still gave UGA a helluva fight even in our worst year in 20.
Lots of factors in recruiting rankings. UGA has been top 10 for many years now without shite to show for it. The same can be said for a lot of teams out there. Coaching counts and balancing needs with recruiting counts. Stars from a service that gets money for subscriptions? Not so much.
