I think it is pretty weird when people continue to root for a team they liked as a kid after they go to school somewhere else unless there are some unusual circumstances.

Of course they are free to do so, but IMO it implies that they didn't do something right in college or that the university they went to was a bad fit for them. I can certainly understand emotional attachment to a school your parents root for, and you cheered for as a kid. If you go to college at an SEC school it should be a great time and you should develop a lot of emotional investment in that University. The sports team you root for should be less important than the university where you attend class, make friends, and graduate.

If they didn't enjoy their college experience, thought their fellow students were assholes, were unimpressed by the curriculum, etc then I get it, and then it just seems kind of sad and it is unfortunate for them that they didn't get joy out of college.

I grew up an uga fan, but followed a girl to Auburn. AU is far and away my #1. I still like uga as a program, but their fans make it weird on Saturdays. I go in pulling for uga, but also find myself hoping they lose in painful fashion because of the fanbase.

Kinda how I am with the Panthers. I want Cam to succeed, but being on a rival of the Falcons, I hope he only wins 2 games a year.

I get twisted on football weekends.

I have to admit, I didn't see this post when I made my post above.
