In the NSD interview Mac said they had a DB coach he just didn't want to ruin anyones NSD. Should be announced soon.

Gray is a solid hire. VT has had some very good DBs during his time there.

Gray is the name I posted back on the 16th that was Mac's top target but heard that day it was gonna be a hard swing. Good hire and a Florida guy.
Torrian Gray, Virginia Tech secondary coach
--Birthdate and hometown: March 18, 1974; Bartow, Florida
--Coaching resume: Virginia Tech defensive backs coach (2006-present); Chicago Bears defensive backs coach
--Current salary: $260,000 on a one-year deal (per The Roanoke Times)
--The skinny: Gray has been with Virginia Tech since 2006 and has long been loyal to the Hokies, who he played for from 1992-96. Even with Frank Beamer retiring and Justin Fuente taking over, Gray remained one of the defensive holdovers on staff. A native of the region of Lakeland, Florida -- notably where 2017 five-star wide receiver James Robinson resides -- Gray would be familiar with Callahan’s recruiting area of central Florida and perhaps be an upgrade.

The other defensive coaches need to step up their recruiting or theyll be next. The more i read about Gray the more i like the hire. Hopefully he can pull some top guys next yr.
Collins, shannon and the rumph shaker are supposed to be top recruiters, they clearly got their asses kicked this cycle but they were a year or so behind the other schools.
No excuses in 17
