Mizzou vs Buffalo- Beauty and the Beast.

Buffalo is some hot garbage. Last in the MAC. But Beauty and the Beast events are always fun. Mizzou will trot out some backups tonight to get some experience.

125-#8 Barlow or Aaron Assad vs Kyle Akins
133-#13 Synon vs Bryan Lantry
141-Cole Baumgarter vs Jason Estevez- Cole getting a start against an inferior opponent. NOT replacing Manley, just giving him a rest. Manley ranked #9.
149-#4 Mayes vs Colt Cotten
157-Le'Roy Barnes vs Tim Schaefer- So Barnes bumped up 16 pounds and placed the best out in Reno before break, and it seems like the coaches are going to give him a shot at winning the job. I don't think anyone saw this coming, but he should provide a nice bit of side entertainment during the slaughter.
165-#12 Lewis vs Tyler Rill- Rill is probably their best wrestler, but not even a Top 20 guy.
174-#6 Butler vs McBride
184-#6 Willie vs Ariola
197-#2 J'den vs Benjamen
285- Romero vs Gunning

Middle weights might see some other backups, but expect most of the upper weights to wrestle, since their backups are redshirting. It is going to be a slaughter.

#5 Mizzou vs #9 Cornell @ Jesse Auditorium Sunday

Cornell is very top heavy in a sense that they have a few studs, and that is it. But those studs are pretty awesome. With a different environment at Jesse, weird things can happen....(like J'den losing to Wellington his Freshman year)

125-#8 Barlow vs Macri- Should take pretty easily, but Barlow's weight management is a huge issue, especially with quick turnarounds in between duals.

133-#13 Synon vs #1 Garrett- Garrett bumps up this season and has been running roughshod through EVERYONE, including the defending champ. Important note though...when Garrett missed weight at 125 last season, Synon did beat him at 133. Both are long, lanky types who use their bodies well. Should be a good match.

141-#9 Manley vs Mark Grey Or Dylan Realbuto- So Grey beat Manley back in 2014 when Manley was sucking weight, but they haven't met since. Grey pulls some upsets occasionally, so Manley better bring his A game. Dylan Realbuto is the younger brother of the stud Realbuto, so he has the genes to be good, but hasn't really shown it yet. Realbuto has been the starter, but Grey might get the nod.

149-#4 Mayes vs Golasso- Not much to go on. Very few common opponents, but no worries. Mayes should dominate.

157-? vs Dowdy- Honestly no clue who steps out for Mizzou on Sunday. Barnes is getting a crack tonight vs Buffalo, and I'll guess it is him if he wins? No expectation, all surprise here.

165-#12 Lewis vs #20 Pickett- Very good matchup for Lewis. An experienced Top 20 senior who knows the game well. Lewis should have his hands full.

174-#4 Butler vs #1 Realbuto- So Realbuto lost a few times and will take a dive in the rankings, but for now, he is still #1. Realbuto was a finalist at 157 last year, making a huge jump to 174 this season. Very exciting matchup here.

184-#4 Willie vs #1 Dean- Dean is the returning National Champ. Willie lost barely out in Vegas by 1, in which there was a questionable call on a Willie takedown that would have won it. Lots of folks think Willie is the only one who can actually win the national title besides Dean because of his style. Incredible matchup either way. A win of any sort would help his NCAA seeding alot

197-#2 J'den vs Owen Scott- J'den hopefully got his head strait over the break.

285-Romero vs Sweany or Richards- Not much knowledge here. Just hope Romero makes a big leap in development.

As you can see by the rankings, or lack thereof, Cornell has 3 Monsters, and a Meh rest. 133, 174, and 184 are worth the price of admission by themselves. Throw in a special Jesse atmosphere and you never know what might happen.

Mayes looks bad but wins.

There's a theme going on here. Good to knock the rust off before Sunday. I'm sure are on cruise control too.

Ditto for Barnes, though I guess any win for him is good.

Miklus was active. I really think he's on a mission this year.

Romero only loss. Score wasn't bad (until hw for pinned) but he got pushed around like a little bitch. He really could have benefited from a redshirt year in the weight room. Shame we didn't have that luxury.

Buffalo

125-Barlow wins unconvincingly. Lots of dancing and not much scoring.

133- Synon got a shutout victory. typical synon performance

141- Baumgarter fills in and gets a nice little victory

149- Mayes got put on his back early and had to battle back the rest of the match. Did finish and come back, but did not look good at all.

157- Barnes was very active and ended up getting a win at his new weight. Gassed near the end, but held on for the win.

165- Lewis was a little bit slow, but got the major. People know he is a hammer on top and are avoiding it now.

174- Same story for Blaise. Not his usual performance, looked a bit slow, but still got a win.

184-Willie did willie things. Tech, dominating.

197-J'den determined to make people pay after his loss. dominating.

285- Romero gets pinned.

Pretty boring match overall.

Cornell

125- Barlow gets taken down early and never makes up the difference. Shouldn't lose these types of matches. Very dissapointed.

133- Synon did really well in limiting the damage. Garrett is #1 for a reason. Saving the last point ended up winning the match.

141- Manley had a sleeve on his left leg, which is a bit worrysome, but dominated otherwise. Did well and got back points to win a major.

149- Mayes looked much better today, just missing out on a major.

157- Really exciting match. Barnes is obviously small and adjusting to his new weight, but I think he will be solid by the end of the year. For now though, he lost a tight one.

165- Lewis didn't get to use his strength of riding until overtime, but it got him the win. Needs some more offense if he is going to AA though.

174-Blaise got taken out of his game by Realbuto. Realbuto got a 1st period takedown, and that was the difference. 3-2 loss for Blaise against a quality opponent.

184-Coaches made a calculation and sent out Tim Miklus to get slaughtered, which he did. But he didn't get pinned, only tech'd.

197- Willie bumped up in an attempt to win the dual. Way smaller, but Willie pulled out the victory in a 1pt match.

285-J'den bumped up. Needing to win by at least 8 to win the dual. Mizzou would have held the tiebreaker if he would have won a major. But he put on a takedown clinic, getting a Tech, and the team victory. J'den might have the most pokeable eyes in the NCAA, because it happens in like every match.

The gamble from the coaches on moving willie and J'den paid off, as mizzou kept their dual win streak alive.

Damn. Didn't see that coming with the bump ups in weight. Nice move by the staff. Wish I could have watched.
