Until Spurrier beat Meyer in 2005, USC hadn't beaten UF since 1939. While at USC, Spurrier proceeded to go 5-5 against his alma mater.

Though, in context, it makes more sense. Until joining the SEC in 94, the only SEC program USC played regularly was UGA.
