Tennesse and Texas didn't make a move quick enough and let the program degenerate significantly, which is why they are where they are. This move would be to avoid that

Fulmer had gone 10-4, won the SEC East (lost to NC LSU by a touchdown in the SECCG), and beaten Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl just the previous year. You're saying they should have fired him after that season or sooner?

I respect him as a coach because he is the reason why Oklahoma State has been so successful under Mike Gundy.

I think he totally shat the bed when getting shutout against the very team he defeated in 2011, in the game that mattered the most. Had LSU won the national title, IMO, the 2011 team would have been the best in major college football history.

His 2007 team was nothing special, IMO. Yes, they won the national title, but 2007 season for everyone was just all beating up on each other. When a (12-1) Kansas has the best record of all BCS teams by the end of the season, you know the year as a whole was a cluster.

He has kept LSU relevant for sure, but I think he will always be remembered for laying an egg against Alabama for all the marbles.
