Tennesse and Texas didn't make a move quick enough and let the program degenerate significantly, which is why they are where they are. This move would be to avoid that.

Fulmer had gone 10-4, won the SEC East (lost to NC LSU by a touchdown in the SECCG), and beaten Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl just the previous year. You're saying they should have fired him after that season or sooner?
