He is saying that had Auburn got Foster, they would have neither developed him nor taught him proper technique. Instead of looking like a defensive stalwart with a potential NFL future, he would be out of football because of injuries or nothing more than a special teams player.

Given AU's defense over the time since Reuben signed, he is probably right.
