Saban shutting down the Miles run game isn't unusual, especially in BDS

Many an LSU fan (myself included) thought that this year would be different, mostly because LF7 has looked superhuman this season. But, it has nothing to do with the RB. In 2009, 2013, and 2015 it didn't matter whether it was Spencer Ware, Jeremy Hill, or Leonard Fournette, because the Bama front 7 dominated the LSU OL in all of those games.
Now here is the problem for LSU fans. We have seen this happen 4 times now (bolded games above). Miles continues to try to run right at the Bama front 7, where they are the strongest. You can call us whiners if you want, which is probably true to an extent of any passionate fanbase, but watching your HC who otherwise has done an outstanding job running the program continue to trot out a failed gameplan against the team your fanbase wants to beat 10x more than any other opponent is absolutely maddening. I don't think "stubborn" is a strong enough word for the Miles offensive gameplan against Bama.

Sure. Switch to a no huddle spread. You'll go through crap seasons like A&M and Auburn but you'll have a better chance of beating Bama.

Hyperbole aside, what Bama did best this game was control the ball. They flipped the script on LSU, stuffed the run, and rattled Harris. And they did it by being bad mfers. Even Lil Hump came up and banged on the mighty LF. It was cute. But yeah, 48 plays on offense doesn't give you much leeway.

I don't think it's just the gameplan. It includes the system that Miles recruits to. The gameplan is just an extension of that. If you're running and recruiting to a smashmouth, pro-style system, that's what your gameplan will look like, and your passing game will reflect that.

IMO it has more to do with the complete failure to establish a legitimate passing threat. Outside of 2013 all the post-Flynn seasons have been marked by horrible to mediocre QB performances. Saban doesn't respect our QBs and for good reason.

I was worried before the game. I knew the Bama D was good, but Fournette has been spectacular. But when I heard CLM before the game interview and he told the female sideline reporter that he had told the team to treat it "just like any other game", I felt like he was dismissing a great opportunity. Why would a great head coach go into a game of that magnitude, with a hostile fan base packed to the rim, and tell his players to treat it like "just another game? At least CNS will try his best to light a fire under the player's azzes and get them motivated to go out and play for 60 minutes. LSU is a great team, and I have the utmost respect for them, and if they had came into BDS with the same attitude that HF and the Rebels did last month today would have been a totally different picture.
