how is anyone here going to "call out" steve spurrier? what would that look like? what would that do?
1. no one here can call anyone out because frankly, no one here matters in the world steve spurrier inhabits
2. he's steve spurrier, if there's one thing that he's made clear, it's that he doesn't give a shite what anyone thinks about him
3. he's been retired for some time. he made it clear to them he likes to golf and isn't going to be some obsessive crazy person. He golfs at augusta and goes to sleep at a decent hour...and he's 70.
4. steve spurrier has the kind of record where it doesn't matter how he leaves...he's steve spurrier.

Because he's Steve Spurrier and other than the Bear he is the man who made the modern SEC, you don't call out a legend, you let a legend leave and you say thanks.
Put it this way Meyer won two titles and unless he'd actually died on that night in December 2009 he was never going to be as beloved as Spurrier at Florida no matter how well he did (it's the same reason even Nick knows he's not going to be loved like the Bear, respected sure but not loved).
Seriously, the man coached at USCe and went 3-1 vs Saban, he coached at USCe for a decade, a school that prior to his arrival was essentially on the UK, MSU, Vandy level historically (he has almost half of there bowl appearances 9 of 20), and he still has a winning record vs basically every SEC school. The man essentially epitomizes everything we want a coach to be and he did it somehow without going all robot Saban/Meyer mode we won't see another Spurrier in out lifetimes.
So to answer your question, why no one is calling out Steve, well it's no one other than a handful of haters has the lack of proper upbringing to do so. Hell, read Spencer Hall's article on him, he's right this retirement is Spurrier being Spurrier.
