Thoughts on Treon moving forward

The season will now hang on how far Treon has progressed since the beginning of the season.
He is clearly an athletic player, and can make things happen with his legs, but he has been known to hesitate in the passing game, and be late on throws. That is one of the big reasons Grier passed him. Decisiveness in the passing game. He also is a bit less accurate, and doesn't have the cannon of an arm Grier had. He does seem to have a bit more touch on his deep throws and is good throwing on the run. He is also a much more dangerous runner.
So, based on watching the early games though, he ran the same offense that Grier ran in the first 2 games, just not quite as effectively. A lot of things have happened since then though:
1. The WR rotation has solidified, which is something that had not quite happened when Treon was the QB. McGee did not play as much in the first two games, and guys like Bailey, Showers, and Worton were getting a lot more snaps. Now, Florida has proven to have one of the more consistent WR first string line ups in the SEC with Callaway, Powell, and Robinson, and Treon should benefit from that.
2. The offensive line has improved over the course of the season. UF had a lot of trouble earlier in the year with consistency on the offensive line. Now, sure, the line still loses sometimes, but overall, the play of the unit is better now than it was then.
3. Kelvin Taylor has emerged as a go to RB for this team. That had not quite happened yet through 2 games and should go a long way in protecting Harris from bad situations.
4. Some of the inconsistency we saw in Treon earlier in the year was because he was coming in and out of the game and it obviously took time for the team to adjust between the two QBs. UF won't have to deal with that issue, or have Treon looking over his shoulder, because this is HIS TEAM.
Given these things, I think Treon has should have enough on offense around him to be OK. The only real question I have now is his mental state. I have to wonder if he ever thought he would really play here again, outside of wildcat QB stuff, and I'm sure transferring at the end of the year was a real possibility. Now all of a sudden, he is the starting QB on an undefeated team playing #6 LSU on the road. Can he handle that? Will the team respond to him? Can he be a leader?
Those are the things I wonder about.
My final thought is that the LSU game is not a must win game, for Florida to win the SEC. The must win game on the schedule is Georgia. If Florida beats Georgia, even if LSU destroys them, they will be 5-1 in the SEC, having a full 2 game lead on everyone in the division except for Kentucky (who I assure you will lose again somewhere). So assuming Kentucky loses at least one more game, which they will, UF could conceivably lose to South Carolina or Vanderbilt later on (not likely) and still win the division because they would hold the tie breaker over everyone else.
Even if the play off is still your ultimate goal, the LSU game isn't a must win.
That being said, I hope the team can pull together and get that 7th win this week.
That is all.

Solid analysis. I also wonder about Treon being able to make the right decisions under duress and not throw into traffic. As far as the team rallying around him I think it will happen, remember last year when he came in for Driskel and the offense just seemed to gel more for him. I hope he has more of that mojo left to rally the troops.

treon is one of those south florida kids who has a presence about him. call it swag, confidence, w/e, but players respond to it. he's a winner. state champion and 5-2 as a starter in college.
i think if we can run the ball some it will set up deep play action that treon can take advantage of. he throws a great deep ball. teams have run some on lsu and everyone has thrown on them. whole idea is to not let that crazy ground game wear us down in the second half. we rotate 11 dlinemen so that will be huge.
i don't know that he's much faster than grier but is definitely a better runner.
