There is holding happening on every play. I really don't know prompts the officials to throw the flag for that when they do.
Or at least what appears to me to be holding. I don't know if this is some obscure interpretation of the rule, or what. You know, kind of like what constitutes a catch now.

When I was playing high school football back in the 80s, the offensive linemen couldn't grab the defensive linemen with their hands. That was pretty much an automatic penalty. Apparently now they can do that as long as they keep their hands within the torso of the defensive player's body.
You pretty much have to grab a defensive lineman around the neck or waist, or use blatant wrestling-like take him to the ground takedown to be guaranteed a holding penalty.
Otherwise, it seems kind of random to me.
