Cam wasn't dismissed from FL because of the laptop, regardless of what happened. He left for Blinn partly because he'd be sitting another year behind Tebow.

Chizik didn't get fired after an 8-5 season in his 3rd year. Without the pressure of an undefeated season and a National Championship, he might've gotten more time.

And, if you are to believe the stories behind the scene, maybe his ego wouldn't have gotten the best of him and he might've turned out to be a consistent coach at the very least.

Doesn't matter, football starts in a week.

Either way, he's not starting in the sec until 2010 so that reasoning makes no sense

"When Cameron Newton left the University of Florida it was assumed the major reason was because of his arrest on charges of stealing a laptop. According to FoxSports.com, Newton also faced a possible expulsion from school due to three separate instances of academic cheating."
