I wish him luck as a SEAL, his hardest obstacle will be whether his surgically repaired knee holds up. The most common injury in BUDS are knee injuries. I've served with 3 or 4 guys who got medically cut because of ACL/MCL injuries.

You just do not get to enlist as a "SEAL" straight from the street.
He will have to find his way there in one of the branches. Wish him luck but thats a tough road to walk.
