The truth of the matter is we have a good game manager on the roster in Morris. If none of the gunslingers like Coker, Corn or BB are ready...we can always revert to the 2008-2009 offense of ground and pound and play action with a smart QB who knows the offense and doesn't turn it over. Play field position and grind teams down. I think Saban is just trying to figure out if any of the gunslingers can be trusted, as it's obviously better to have a playmaker at the position if possible.

Who on the 2008-2009 schedule could light up a scoreboard? Things have changed in the SEC over that short period of time, look at Bama's schedule this year and decide if a game manager will be sufficiant.

Obviously we aren't going to hold teams to less than 10 points a game like we used to, the game has changed. I still think a great defense can keep teams to 20 or less with an exception or two per year. Looking at our schedule which offense really scares you? Arkansas and LSU are ground and pound teams as is Wisky. Ole miss has no running game and a new QB. UGA is one dimensional. Auburn is a big question mark. If our offense can score 21-24 points with our defense this year, that's 10 wins IMO. I agree 1-2 games we will need to score more than that but we can win most of them the old fashioned way and stay close in the others and have a chance down the stretch with a game manager. Not ideal, but can be done with elite talent and an NFL defense.

Ps-- as to your question, in 2008-2009 we played two of Urbans best teams ever, as well as a very explosive Texas team (yeah I know we hurt Colt). Also seem to remember Petrino having some elite offenses around then as well as top 10 teams. The game has evolved since then, but some of you act like it was the pre-integration wishbone era five years ago
