Yeah, and they weren't subpar. They were total dominating, imposing their will, tear the heart out kind of games. No great defense allies shite like that. None. Ever. In the history of football.

So the justification for how good a defense is, or may be in the future, is based on a single meaningless bowl game?
Ole Miss had arguably the best defense in CFB last year, and they should be good again in 2015.
