A lot of those late bullets were because Marshall had a problem reading his progressions too. From what I've seen from JJ, he goes through his reads much faster. Not to mention, he is a lot taller than Marshall and can see over the line. And he probably won't be getting near the amount of balls batted down at the LOS.

It doesn't take away what Marshall did for us over the past two season to say that JJ will be an upgrade at QB. Marshall played his heart out, and I'll always be a fan of him.

Actually what you are saying does take away from what he did at QB. NM was short, shorter QB's get balls batted. You have no idea how JJ will progress through reads in the heat of a battle because he hasn't had to do it yet when anything was on the line. I expect him to be fine but you don't know, nor do I. NM also made a lot of plays with his feet. I am not talking about picking up a few yards and first down when the rest of the defense is 40 yards down field. I am talking about plays that very few QB's in history can make and JJ is not a statue but he isn't NM either. The strong arm and accuracy will be an upgrade but he lacks things NM did which brought a lot of pressure on a defense. Many would argue pressure defenses weren't used to in this day and age. Truth be told almost everybody has a QB who can sling it now a days.

The job of the QB is to win games. If we manage to keep JJ for 2 years he will need to beat 20-7 and win a SEC title and do everything possible to win a national title. If you can't see how hard that is going to be to replicate I can't help you. To JJ's side he should have a better defense to work with than NM. Of course that might actually work against him because it will show NM was working with less.

No crap. That's exactly what I said.

You mean like playing against a divisional rival in your conference? I could've sworn that was JJ that threw for almost 300 yards in the first half against Arkansas last year. Must have been mistaken.

Last I checked, football was a team sport. Johnny Football was awesome but didn't win shite. Doesn't mean he wasn't a great QB.
