He's actually 4-7 and 3-8 in his two years at Fort Lewis. I don't know what their expectations are, but that's not exactly doing "just fine". I think he may possibly be incapable of keeping up with the game of football like he could in the late 80's through the mid 90's.

They were 1-8 and 0-9 the 2 years prior to that.

They probably weren't looking for the next sure fire thing though. JLS is what he is, a damaged goods coach who has some vague credentials. You don't hire him to win a national championship at any level, but by now he's a safe bet to be a lovable turnip. Sometimes what you need is a lovable turnip.
