It's why you still point to Chavis as the scapegoat for the 2012 Bama and 2014 Bama games. You ignore that you were only even IN those games because of the defense. You blame Chavis for the loss, as if the inept offense was some sort of innocent bystander.
And when LSU and Tenn fans actually point out late game collapses under Chavis this is what they say; "you should have scored more"
A&M fans just look at stats.
If they watched the game they would see that CHAVIS CHANGES HIS SCHEME....
Thats the entire fricking and ABSOLUTE point.

this narrative gets so old. Yes, the defense played great in those games. So did LSU's offense, particularly Mettenberger and Hill, in 2012 btw. But it really doesn't matter how well the defense played the whole game if they blow it in the last 2 minutes. What you're basically saying to me is it's the offense's responsibility to pitch blowouts and the defensive coordinator's job to hold onto a 2+ TD lead. Sorry, that's not how it works when you play as many good teams as LSU does year in and year out. And if that's what you're expecting to see, then be prepared to be disappointed.
When Chavis gets a lead, he changes his scheme he's used the entire game that got the team in that position, and he backs everyone off and lets the opponent nickel and dime him all the way down the field. No one thinks he's a bad statistical coach, he's just stubborn and will never be able to see that his two minute defense, flat out, does not work in college
