Every program has had bad coaching hires. LSU hired Mike Archer instead of Steve Spurrier in the late 80s and that began our downward spiral into the 90s.

Bama will be fine post-Saban. But I do agree, it all depends on who the coach his. Just don't hire Saban's recommendation. At LSU Saban recommended Houston Nutt for his replacement.
