you need to possess at least a little bit of intown courage to live there. I do, but anyone sensitive at all to urban issues won't likely love it.

You might want to explain that to the people with young children, paying 700k for a three bedroom house in downtown Decatur.

Wife and I looking at houses in ATL, Decatur school district.... the identical house on the dividing line is $150k, cross the street in the Decatur City School district, literally $600k.

It's going to hit a bubble though, for that price difference you can go private school.

We're two years from that transaction though.

This post is mainly to validate what you are saying.

Also, brother in law worked there, says thumbs up, and another life long friend who has worked in Gwinnett, Cobb, Fulton, and Clarke, he also vouches for Decatur City Schools.

I think your misunderstanding me when I say that.

I'm simply saying it's not some white suburban heaven with no colored folks for miles, and rows and rows of McMansions with signed subdivisions. Those are the things I'm comparing it to.

Eta. All that said I fricking love Decatur for what it is. Have for my whole life. It's always been my family's gateway into atlanta so I know what I'm talking about. You seem a little defensive towards what I'm saying for being a transplant
