So what? That was the first game of the season. Do you really believe the '83 Miami Hurricanes were the same team on January 2, 1984 that they were on September 3, 1983? After that first game loss to Florida, they didn't have a close game until their last game of the season against Florida State. They even beat Mississippi State by a larger margin than Auburn did (31-7 vs. 28-13). And that game took place a week before MSU played Auburn.
