He just needs to show any improvement, even if it's just one win. If Auburn wins less than 8 you'll probably start seeing the same things said about him that were said about Sumlin (at least somewhat) and questioning his actual coaching ability.
To be fair though some coaches do rebound after 3 seasons of doing worse each year. Bert went from 12-1 to 9-4 to 7-6 his first three years at Wisconsin, and then followed up with 3 consecutive 10+ win seasons.

Yeah, which is exactly why I expect Bert to do well at Arkansas in the next few years. He clears out the program and then builds it up. Doesn't always look pretty, but he does a solid job. Malzahn has a track record of utilizing what he's got to the fullest extent he can. I know the former can be successful long term... not sure about the latter yet.
