The ironic thing about Tennessee's SEC 2007 appearance in the SECCG game is that it was unsatisfactory to UT fans. Fans bitched that Fulmer and the Vols 'backed into' to the 2007 SECCG despite being ranked #2 at the time (don't think Mizzou was ranked that high).
ALL our losses were to ranked teams with Bama being the only loss that was truly unforgivable even though they were ranked. All losses were also all road games.
We entered the SECCG 10-2 and heavily favored over LSU. But credit LSU, they played one helluva game -- better than they had all year and took advantage of us thinking we'd waltz to Victory.
The myth that this team was bad is largely a myth. Even so, this team was not up to Vol fans' standards.
We were so goddamn spoiled that going to the SECCG and holding a #2 ranking at the time wasn't enough. BUT those are the standards of BIG SIX teams.
--------------
As an aside:
QB Erik Ainge had always been a headcase (when he was good he was really good but when he wasn't he really wasn't) and by 2007 he'd developed a drug habit stemming from rx's he had from injuries which was largely unknown (I'm sure players knew). Unknown at the time was that he was also bipolar. When he was drafted, he was forced in 08 to enter rehab and also dx'd with bipolar.
RB Arian "Taco" Foster had a severe case of the fumbles. At one point, when the press asked him about it he decided he'd only speak in pterodactyl whenever asked about it (not kidding). What made his 'fumblitis' so bad is they came at the worst times possible.

Ummmmmmmmmmm I'm pretty sure none of these are accurate statements.

But his most anti-clutch fumbles came in 2005, when he fumbled into the endzone against Bama and USC in back to back weeks.
