re: How has OM been able to get members of the media to buy in to our propaganda?

So when they are "blown away" does it skew their opinion so much that they actually rank them above schools around the entire country in certain aspects? Like they just can't get over how shocked they were that OM just sticks in their mind? That makes a lot of sense actually.
Yes. Can you imagine going to West Africa or Libya and finding some random place that's actually pretty civilized and normal? I know I would be blown away and wonder "what the frick happened with El-Shareef, everywhere else was fricked but that one spot was surprisingly normal." Then if I was some gay writer I'd probably write some wordy shite about it

Because they are ranking OM based on partying. If you really want to know email them, I'm sure their stuff is online

Once again, lots of words, little substance

The most irrational post ever. Congrats.

Tell me how I should have posted it

No reponse would be my advice. Too late now, you won the night.

So I'm irrational for saying that Ole Miss "sticks in their mind" because of how shocked they are of OM compared to how they would assume Mississippi to be, even though comparatively it's not that great?
Take for example the grove. A tiny plot of land that jams people on so tight they can't breathe. A bunch of shitty tents with faux glam like plastic chandeliers. No music. No grilling. No beer. And yet, it's universally ranked #1 or #2 tailgating destination in every single publication.
How the frick does that happen?

This is how I feel about the old testament. .

The PR is more important to you all. It is part of your culture.
This thread is a good example. Fayetteville has been on lists on top of lists for the past 25 years. Fayetteville used to be this little town of 40k people in the woods where you could find a fine dining white table-cloth French Nouveau meal on the quaint town square (which itself was featured in several TV shows and movies in the 90s). The narrative used to be "look at our little neck of the woods and all the great stuff we have for a tiny little ole town this size". And we had actual billionaires driving around in beat up pickups, etc.
Then, we grew, and grew and now we're a midsized metro and TBH, most of the people here would be ok if growth stopped dead in its tracks for a decade.
The promotion and narrative isn't as important. It probably never was as important, to be honest.

Everybody believes in Ole Miss football team? You will likely picked to finish 3rd or 4th in the west at best. Of course, I guess that is an improvement over where Ole Miss is usually picked
What he means is when the media picks us in a preseason poll at say 11 an everyone thinks that we are too high. Same for grove rating, female rating, party rating, town rating, campus rating, etc. Dont see how you are missing that

Maybe that website actually did their research

You're still, somehow, not grasping the question I'm asking. How do they get the media to buy in? No need for another novel on the narrative and our need to be loved.
I want theories, I want to know how we brainwashed everyone.

This is how the Mississippi episode of Bourdain's show was. They're in the Delta and Jackson proper, places which are positively Third World in appearance and culture. Then they pop into Oxford, which is a neatly kept town square. By comparison, it is an oasis. They went to a bar and they had lined up every person in Oxford who had ever attempted writing anything. How amazing, emerging from this bleak landscape and here's a bar filled with writers. Oh my, the culture!
A poster on here once wrote that Mississippi was the "birthplace of modern American literature". Seriously. No, there are a couple of famous writers from Mississippi. In context, they are more important to Mississippi than they are other places.
It would be like me stating that "Arkansas is the birthplace of modern American statesmanship!" because of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Wes Clark, and Mike Huckabee. That would be dumb.

So we're good at framing a gathering, or other things of that nature, in a timely event to cast positive light. Ok there's one example. What are some others?

I've explained it to you. And your thread is a good example.
It is exceptionally important to Ole Miss people, almost to a person, to claim everything about Oxford and Ole Miss is twice as good as it is in reality. One cannot encounter an Ole Miss person without them spewing a bunch of overblown nonsense about Oxford or Ole Miss. It is important because of your narrow, Celtic, sharecropper vs planter, fear of being labeled white trash, overly class-conscious culture.
Lazy writers repeat it.

There it is. Was that so hard?
Ok, so we've established these people aren't truly doing their job. What writers and publications should we trust? Possibly none when related to certain topics I would assume. Should "lists" and "polls" and "rankings" articles even be posted on this site?

You replaced Col Reb with a "Black" Bear, the liberal media won, they like you now.
