Wade O'Connor, the former Tyndall assistant and NCAA informant who got this whole thing started, seems to be a little "off" based on some people I've spoken with. Had some issues that required dealing with at Southern Miss which is why Tyndall had to remove him from his staff. Tyndall did fund O'Connor's recuperation efforts out of his own pocket, however.

Some time around mid-summer in 2014 Tyndall found out that O'Connor planned to talk to the NCAA. Tyndall panicked and brought him down to Knoxville to his summer camp. Paid him what I was told was a sizable out of pocket sum to give a speech there in an attempt to settle things down.

When that didn't work he flew him down to his wedding in Destin, allowed him to be part of the wedding party, etc.

That didn't work either and O'Connor spoke to investigators anyway.

When the NCAA arrived in Knoxville in November, a few staff members made some mistakes. Adam Howard, who resigned shortly after the meeting, called a Southern Miss player and tried to convince him to mislead investigators. R.J. Rush, another staffer, made some similar mistakes.

I should have more on some specifics related to Donnie soon, but there's a few quick nuggets for you all.
