Not in the slightest. A full-scale invasion of the main island would have been way too costly. The bomb easily saved thousands of American lives, no question.

Think about all the great cinema D-Day gave us, a Japanese invasion would have been ten times bigger. How many epic, Saving Private Ryan type films have been made about the bombings?
That should be enough for any rational mind to decide if the bombings were right or not.
