nothing to do with standards to play football though. All the SEC schools have lower standards than most ACC schools which accounts for why they are usually better.
I never said UGA is a bad school academically. I could not have gone there when I was young b/c they didn't have engineering so it and I wouldn't care how good their sociology program is in comparsion to oterh colleges.
I would agree UGA / Athens is best small city college in GA but Athens is actually much more built up downtown than tpical college town. It might have more downtown than Mercer.
TO me Statesboro is more of a college town per your definition of one.

Let me step back in for a sec.
Clemson has the lowest standards in the ACC, so do the conference a favor and don't include Clemson when defending academic integrity of the acc.
And FWIW most people who even know what Clemson is generally consider it on par with auburn.
