Alabama and Kentucky had some wars in the 1970's

Alabama's three year run of winning or sharing the SEC title from 1973-1974 thru 1975-1976 is one of the SEC's most underrated achievements.

Kentucky won the head to head in '75 denying Alabama the opportunity to play the first round game at home. At least that year the 'at large' berth started. The year before Alabama tied Vandy with Vandy winning both games and Alabama sat home as co-champ with the Mideast Regional at Tuscaloosa.

IMHO Arkansas was brought in from the SWC to be just that, the rival to Kentucky in BB. It worked for a while with Eddie, Nolan, and perhaps will in the future (we hope) since Anderson has historically held his own against Cal everywhere Cal has been.

But the saga and drama has taken it's toll for sure. Florida has definitely had a presence with Donavan but has also dropped off a bit recently. I am surprised at Floridas lack of facilities (mostly football I suppose) but think they will have no problem getting back sooner than later. Definitely not have the problems we have had the last several years.

I personally miss Bama being a dominant BB School. there were some battles in the past for sure.

Again, jmo!
