Why is Grady Brown leaving the field instead of Botkin or Adams?

Stupid hire leads to an even stupider move. I'd much rather have Grady Brown instead of
Botkin- who couldn't figure out Walton and Moore needed to be on the field together until the UF game, or
Adams- who inherited a talented defensive line from Brad Lawing and promptly turned it into shite.

Seriously what in the frick is Spurrier thinking? Co-defensive coordinators? Is he suffering form dementia and forgotten how the went in 2005? Picking Grady Brown to leave the field? Can he not recognize that the defensive line has been in a downward spiral since that piece of shite Deke Adams was hired? Why not make Adams quality control Spurrier? Hes the guy that needs to leave the field if you're trying to control the quality of the defense.

Not one thing this offseason has been encouraging at all. I wish Spurrier would have just retired and gone to drink Coors on the beach because waiting until after Signing Day to make changes was a mistake and the changes to the staff hes making are further mistakes.

Thought it was because Hoke's background is in the secondary?

I agree with you though, either of those two should've been put on an off the field role first before Brown. Pretty good recruiter, plus he can actually coach. Secondary, especially the corners got better as the season went on. The same cannot be said for different areas on defense.

Hoke is also "over-seeing" linebackers, whatever that means. If he can "over-see" them though I'd like to think he could coach them.

But this does bring up another point of why the Hoke hire was fricking stupid. We now have 3 coaches with DB backgrounds (Ward, Brown and Hoke) and 0 that can coach the defensive line or linebackers.

I've come to the conclusion that Spurrier is just being a good ole boy and getting a kick back to his old DC buddy from UF instead of actually trying to make a constructive and beneficial hire for our program.

I dunno ... time will tell.

I was fairly sure it was going to be Adams who moved into an administrative role. Botkin was cleared a month ago, but Adams was worried, especially after losing Key.

I dunno what happened. No one seems to know except those directly involved ... Spurrier, Hoke and Brown. Not even Ward knows how, or why, it all went-down the way it did.
