I hate this for him because it's a deciison that's going to ruin his life.

1. he's not going to be "a great pro" he's too damn small and he doesn't have elite athletic ability. He's got GOOD athletic ability but he's not elite. AT BEST..

let me put it this way. Malcom Brown, the DT at texas is a protypical NFL DT. He left early and he won't sniff past the 2nd round. you can plug him in right onw and he can make plays.

Philon is about 20-30 pounds too big and he can't play at a bigger weight. It's not a matter of bulking him up we did that and he didn't like it, so he lost the weight. So what you really have is a small DT or a slightly undersized 3-4 End which is what i think he ends up being.

first of all, that's half the teaams off the board right there. Then there are better, more phycial prospects than him at the position

At best, he's a 5th round pick. That's being serious. I don't expect him to get drafted utni the 7th and it would not shock me at all if he went undrafted. There is no market for undersized DT's.

2. But lets say... that he gets drafted in the 5th ground.. The avg NFL career is 3 seasons. That's maybe 1 million dollar contract, 500k signing bonus, after taxes you might have 700k left. after your house, your car, taking care of everyone around you, you're flat broke by the time you're 25 and "you hate school" remember?

But that education.. see white people (no offense) do not understand this about poor black familes. For every 1 Knile Davis that gets out and makes it and takes care of his family there are 20 Marcus Monks... who just don't make it for one reason or the other.. But monk has that paper to fall back on. Look what that degree has done for Marcus Monk, for his family.

I mean if you are like, a first round lock I get that. That's common sense. You put 20-30k back / aside to go back to school one day and you go to the NFL and collect dat paper. But there is about a 95% chance that 3 years from now Philon is living with his mom in alabama broke as frick with no degree and no one will give a shite.

Well, a little silver lining to Philon entering the draft: he'll be the fourth DL that's made it to the NFL since Bielema has been head coach.

That's nice to be able to sell to recruits for the 2016 class. We've got Agim and Capps in-state for 2016 and we'll need both of them.

You can tell there's a difference between flowers and philon. I can tell just from listening to them when the media interviews them. Could tell flowers had his head on straight, philon not so much. Some people get 'it' others don't till it's too late. Flowers just gets 'it'.

I also feel Bert tried a little harder to keep flowers, he cared more if he stayed or not. Philon not caring for school was probably a part of bert not caring as much. Philon may surprise me by excelling in the NFL and come back for his degree, I just don't see that happening.
