The people who live there don't even know it smells like sewage because they are immune to it.
You can really only know what your house smells like until you take a vacation. When you first re-enter after a week or so you get the true essence.
Its not confined to only the French quarter either its also not only confined to N.O. its pretty much most of South Louisiana. Its awful.
