People go to UAB as commuter students, transfer students or for graduate programs/research. None of those options are contusive to a thriving football program. So should all of the dozens of schools like this just abandon their football programs for the better good? I can't stand the University of Memphis (mainly because of their bball fans), and their football program's support is every bit as awful as UAB's, but I'd feel pretty bad for them if their BoT decided one day to just disband the program.
