Yea it was kinda chippy from the high level of excitement/tension, I know there at the end, our TB, Russell(Hansbrough) got pissed at the Vol players grabbing at him in the pile after the whistle had blown.

The thing that is downright embarrassing for Tenn is that garbage cracker barrel rap they blare out of the PA system the entire game. It's just stupid, unlike the band playing, and I would think the Vol fans would get pretty tired of that crap in a hurry.

Oh we are but there's nothing we can do about it. The SEC took time away from the bands and gave it to piped in 'music' and artificial noise with the obvious goal of MOAR COMMERCIALS. AD Dave Hart squeezes a quarter so tight the eagle shits two dimes and a nickel so he's in heaven. Unfortunately, the SEC's recent rule changes on bands (for example, you have to get approval from the host school to even bring one now!) will eliminate bands if we fans don't stand up to it. They'll give us DJ'd music first but the goal is all-commercials all the time.

No one believes me because it hasn't happened yet but I'm telling y'all that's what is coming if we fans don't start to draw a line and hopefully we'll start when it gets too much - just hope that won't be too late to reverse.

As for chippy... yeah, don't really mind that. It was physical all game for both teams. I don't think anyone had a clean jersey who played. And I saw more scarred up helmets on our guys than I've seen in a while. (Couldn't tell with yours but it shows on the white).

Still, our student section has been unusual this year. We're not used to it. In fact, the two times it's happened fans have started threads about how aghast they are - EVEN fellow students.

I'm more of the mind of let college kids be college kids but they're also not exactly making us proud.

unfortunately yea we do believe you. We have an AD that is now legendary for squeezing adds on to the video board to the point anything game related is now postage stamp sized.

I think there is a turning point and I think it relys on fans like us not putting up with it getting any worse. We have a choice to show up for the game or watch it, and now with the SEC Network that choice is becoming easier for fans like me who already detest the inconvenience of traveling.

If we're going to all be making the premiere conference dollars from the new network, to me, it makes a lot more sense to start putting fan comfort ahead of squeezing out an extra couple of ad bucks here and there. By insuring each game is televised we are already competing with ourselves by providing the choice of watching in person or at home.

At some point the conference leadership will start to be as concerned about televising a half empty stadium as they are with getting the game on, maybe that will help reverse some of these poor decision about allowing more "piped in" music.
