It seems to me they need to study this stuff before anyone else gets hurt on it. I am not a fan of it at all. I think natural grass is the only thing players need to play on, except in a domed stadium. I don't know what exactly they use in domed stadiums, but it ain't that crap.

They have. There is plenty of research with a quick google scholar search. I did a project on it for biomechanics when I was a kinesiology major at LSU.

I prefer grass, but the south endzone of VHS makes growing grass to difficult and in nothern climates that dead painted grass is worse than the turf. Look at the Redskins and their grass or Pittsburgh or the pics from the Patriots stadium until they changed to turf.

Actually it is. VHS and the Georgia Dome have the same type of surface.The Superdome used to have Field Turf but switched to a different name brand.
