One of the most misused stats in all of football is comparing winning to rushing stats. You hear all the time, when "insert team" rushes for at least "insert yardage" they win 95% of the time.

People get the cause and effect mixed up. Often a team gets ahead with either rushing, passing or a balance. Then they work to preserve the lead by using a clock-eating ground attack. The larger rushing yards may be the "effect" of being in a lead, rather than the "cause" of winning.

So yeah, sometimes a great rushing attack is the cause of a win, but stats can be misleading.

It's even more strange with the type of offense we run. And hell, we're still getting used to it. But our dink and dunk passing game not only serves as a rushing game it's actually controlled time of possession which is another key aspect of a rushing game. To put it into perspective, we won the 'time of possession battle' against OU despite not rushing a lot.
