Let's look at the numbers.

LSU held Wisconsin to 6.5 below their average
LSU held SHSU to 26.8 below their average
LSU held ULM to 18.3 below their average

LSU has held opponents, on average, to 17.2 ppg less than their scoring average.

LSU scored 12.5 more than Wisconsin allows
LSU scored 11.2 more than SHSU allows
LSU scored 7 more than ULM allows

LSU has scored, on average, 10.2 ppg more than their opponents allow.

Mississippi State scored 49, 47, and 35 points (43.7 ppg).

Mississippi State allowed 0, 34, and 3 points (12.3 ppg)

Mississippi State held USM to 12.7 below their average
Mississippi State held UAB to 7 points below their average
Mississippi State held SA to 10 points below their average

Mississippi State has held opponents, on average, to 9.9 ppg less than their average.

Mississippi State scored 8.7 more than USM allows
Mississippi State scored 24.3 more than UAB allows
Mississippi State scored 11 more than SA allows

Mississippi State has scored, on average, 14.7 ppg more than their opponents allow.

Using LSU's stats, you get a score of MSU 27, LSU 23

Using MSU's stats, you get a score of LSU 26, MSU 23

Normally, all things equal, you would expect LSU to score between 23-26 and MSU to score between 23-27.

HOWEVER, the game is in Death Valley, which is good for a TD both ways.

LSU scores between 30-33
MSU scores between 16-20
