I don't necessarily disagree. But that's my fear with the committee and no real clarity on criteria. What is more important?

You have year like 2001, I would argue UF and UT were "better" teams but they didn't get the hardware. On paper, does a 3 loss LSU trump UF, UT, Nebraska, etc. If conference championships are the measurement, great, but I fear it will differ every year.

I'm biased because I want to see an 8-team play off with the champions of the Big 5 conferences get auto bids, and the last three slots made up of the champions of highest rated smaller conferences.

That way, it's win your conference or bust. Give MORE meaning to the conference championship, don't take all of its meaning away.
