Old Dominion , the local team in Norfolk Virginia, started football about the same time Georgia State did in the same fcs conference. They are both located in fertile recruiting grounds. Old Dominion came out guns blazing making the playoffs in its first year of eligibility. Georgia Southern started out strong in the 80s because they had a lot of left over talent. Georgia State went 1-10 with a win over Rhode Island , the land of no talent what so ever.


Its bizarre seeing both of them develop before my eyes and one overachieve and the other so drastically underachieve.

The other two didn't start out with Bill Curry as their head coach though.
