Friday

*Plant (Fla.) at Lowndes, 9 p.m.: Plant, of Tampa, has won four state titles since 2006 and reached the Florida Class 8A semifinals last season. Remember that Plant is the team that tied Sandy Creek 27-27 last season. Plant is best known in Georgia as the alma mater of former Georgia QB Aaron Murray. Lowndes opened the season last week with a 37-14 win over Roswell.

Saturday:

*Booker T. Washington (Fla.) vs. Tucker, 8:30 p.m., Hallford Stadium: Miami’s Booker T. Washington – which won mythical national titles last season – is ranked as high as No. 4 by Scout and is Florida’s reigning Class 4A champion. The Tornadoes opened with a 57-21 victory against Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) last week. Washington also beat Norcross 55-0 last season. Norcross beat Tucker 32-29 in overtime last week.

&

*Miami Central (Fla.) vs. Stephenson, 5:30 p.m., Hallford Stadium: Miami Central is No. 5 nationally in the most recent USA Today rankings after knocking off Hoover last weekend. The Rockets went 13-1 last season and routed Armwood 52-7 to win the Class 6A state championship: Stephenson opened the season with a 41-6 win over Arabia Mountain.

More division #1 recruits will be playing in Georgia this weekend than at any other time!

*Manatee (Fla.) vs. Ware County, 6 p.m., Martin Stadium: This game is the first of two to be played at Lowndes High School as part of the South Georgia Classic Doubleheader. Manatee, of Bradenton, went 11-1 last year, losing in the second round of the Class 8A playoffs. Ware County was 11-2 last year and beat Brooks County 31-6 last week in Franklin Stephens’ debut as the Gators’ head coach

Gonna be a tough for my Gators, but if we win this one watch out...

Lowdnes trims Plant Florida in the border war tonight 20-14, sending Arron Murray's former HS team heading for the swamp.

Congrats Colcuitt County for beating Hoover Alabama 35-14!

Newnan overcame the Carrollton Trojans 28-22 despite their hiring Alabama's million dollar band to play a pre game exhibition at Grisham Stadium.

Finally in the battle for the Golden Isles Congrats Glynn Academy Terrors for taking out the Brunswick pulpwooders 28-21.

Colquitt County, the pride of Georgia tonight, defeats nationally ranked Hoover, the two-time defending champ of Alabama’s high class, 35-14.

Ware County beats Manatee 23-7, and Lowndes beats Plant 20-14 for a sweep of the GA vs. FLA thing at Martin Stadium.

North Cobb stuns #2 North Gwinnett 36-29.

Westminster beats AA defending champ Lovett 13-10 in the Battle of Buckhead.

Hughes beats #1 Creekside of AAAAA, 21-20. Not a shocker. Hughes also a Top 10 team in the highest class.

#1 Aquinas of Class A rallied to beat Prince Avenue 33-18

Peachtree Ridge beats #10 (and preseason #3) Archer 14-10. Archer starts 0-2 after the 11-0 start of a year ago.

Blessed Trinity beats St. Pius for the second year in a row, 42-20.

Grayson 39-0 over Gainesville. Gainesville was shutout in the 2011 opener 49-0 by Buford and made the semis, fwiw.

Peach County shuts out Warner Robins 19-0

W-Wilkes d. Lincoln County 36-10

FYI
Stephenson lost a heart breaker tonight 21-20 here to possibly the best HS team in the country for years.
I'm working on the Tucker/Booker T FLA game nothing in yet.
