IMO I think that fans from other schools have started to see what Bama fans have known and said for 40 years, that "Auburn football is the luckiest team that exists."
Also you add to that the Scam Newton ordeal where Auburn got away with one of the most thrown in your face violations that ever took place. Auburn won a National Championship due to getting away with Scam Gate... The way a lot of the Auburn players have played the game with so little respect for the game and talk trash about it and just seem to get the lucky breaks at the right times.
IMO it has left a sour taste in A LOT of peoples thoughts about the Auburn Tiger programJMHO
This is ironic considering Alabama won two titles on probation. I am certain you aren't very old, but in past years you wouldn't have been given the opportunity to win a title. Until the realized thanks to Auburn it was bad for business for the best team in the country to win all their games and nobody see them. You have to send teams who hadn't earned the chances to title games and bowl games and declare a national champion when the best team is sitting home. The slap the wrist policy went into effect after 1993.
Before anyone says anything about Auburn deserving the penalties. Remember everyone is cheating. The NCAA knows it, the schools know it, the coaches know it, the list is long. It was easy to make an example out of a school named after a town and not a state.

Being on probation =/= being on a postseason ban.
Edit: And no, there is no "slap the wrist" policy because it just happened to Ohio State.
