The upfront costs aren't bad anymore. You're in at easily under $200 an officer. You're also spot on with how they're viewed by good cops.

My local PD has them and absolutely loves them. As with dash cams, they save vastly more officers than they hang.

Every single LE agency that does patrol should be trying everything possible to equip their members.

Funny thing is that a lot of citizen privacy groups are against the idea. I suspect it is more because they don't like the fact that there will be an impartial record more than they fear any privacy invasions.

yea but some departments are huge and others have very little budget. They still have plenty of ways to get the funds for them and it saves money in the long run.

probably a combination of that and people that think the cameras would some how invade their privacy even though they are out in public
