ETA: Notice we didn't have names on the back of the jerseys like most teams back then either.
Jim Carlen was a great coach. I loved that guy. He was a man's man. I saw Vince Dooley at his funeral and I could tell Coach Dooley was just about in tears like the rest of us.

SCAR stopped UGA and Herschel three times inside the ten with first down and less than ten yards for a TD that day.
I doubt any other team in the country could have done that.
Herschel always managed to find his way into the endzone ... but he was held to that one long damn TD run. Crap crap crap. Still breaks my heart watching this game.
UGA was a team of destiny that year.
