I don't see how it holds up since the California law got struck down several years back.

Regardless of the outcome, Texas is growing like a bitch. I think we'd better get used to seeing your children driving around our town.

I remember being in Texas 10 years ago or so and hearing the projection that McKinney would eventually build-out as the largest city in Collin County. It had about 60k people at the time and was projected to outgrow Plano. I remember thinking that was bullshite. Today McKinney is at 150k. Just insanity down there. I also remember Frisco having about 35k people, now its 140k.

no doubt.

This case wasn't about the 10% though. I'm not well versed in it but it was about the 25% and how it is selected. They wanted to strike race as a factor.

I can certainly see the merit in saying it should be blind to such things but the truth is, minorities are grossly underrepresented in our state schools. And since there is a direct correlation between quality of education and long-term success, it creates a somewhat permanent underclass.

In 1970, this was a big problem. I'm not sure how I feel about it today. Has it been long enough? Maybe. Maybe not. Numbers suggest it's still pretty skewed so I'm probably on the side saying using race is okay but I do think we need to eventually phase it out.
