Ok, first of all, I think that the comments are USC's secondary are overblown. They have been coached well there for years, and I'm sure they will have a decent secondary in 2014.

That being said, the spin that some USCe fans are putting on this is ridiculous. Anytime you are going to lose (maybe) 8 players of 21 recruited, for academic issues, that is a HUGE problem in recruiting.

That basically means, that unless the 13 remaining players are all successful, that the 2013 class is already a total bust, before many of them even step on campus.

That might not matter in 2014, or even 2015. But in 2016 and 2017, the holes from that class can be felt. That's how recruiting works in college.

To deny it has any meaning whatsoever, and that we're all only hating is fricking stupid. It matters. Recruiting matters.

I'm sure USCe will be fine in the short term though. Although, I bet, to a man, that they all wish those kids were on campus and contributing.

Meh, we had 13 scholly's to give before attrition (players leaving last year/or in the spring.) The numbers always work out.

If they keep winning like we are now, or better, how do you quantify busts?

What if in 2015 and 2016 we get really good players, like some JUCO's who can step in right away and start? Or what if we coach up the guys we have and they do really well?

...yeah, but coaching matters too. Great example, how many classes has UF had ranked higher than SC in the past 5 years? Then, how many times has UF finished higher in the final AP rankings than SC in the past 5 years?

I agree with this completely.

First of all, your post en toto was not bad. First sentence was good. You sort of dropped off after that.

Please don't tell me that Gator fans are worried about what the Gamecocks and the HBC is doing through the end of his contract in 2017. Please.

Tennessee fans I get, some of them, not all of them. UT and Mizzou fans I get, I do. Even a couple of the butthurt Bama fans who the HBC got under the skin-of and I most definitely get the Dawg fans given how they hate Spurrier. But a Gator fan?

I have to lulz again.

Listen, allow me to put y'all at ease. There have been years when we returned fifty players total and most of those were NRs or two stars. All this stuff about delaying the enrollment of a few freshmen, (it'll probably be four total when all is said and done), when we only lost seven from last years' team and had to Sabanize a few just to make room for ....

Let's try this again.

Q: Do we want to lose eight? A: No.

Q: Can we afford to lose eight? A: Ehhhhh, probably, but still.

Q: Will we lose eight? A: No, more like four that we will place somewhere.

Q: Is this a big deal? A: frick no, not except to a few select rantards.

Q: Y'all are not worried? A: No, and frick you. But we appreciate you worrying for us. Thank you.

Q: Why you not worry Gamecocks? A: Because God smiles on the Gamecocks. The HBC told us so.

Q: Explain A: I'll try. Simply put, we were very young last year. We graduated four and lost three to declaring early. We've been operating with only 82 schollies for the past few years, 2015 is our first year for 85 in awhile. Right now our 2015 class is loaded and still growing. Top Ten class. I think there are 4 highly-rated DBs in the class, corner types mostly. We've already got a few DBs in the fold that will be fine until the 2015 class gets here when you combine them with the two that the Clearing House is stalling on right now.

We'll worry if neither of those two enroll.

This thread has been fun.
