I can understand why USCe fans are confident that they will put a successful DB group/DL on the field and I don't doubt your ability to do so.

But this is big news - 8 of 21 is a lot. It might not hurt you in September, but it very well could in November considering you need these DBs on campus. Plus, you now have to re-recruit these guys from prep school or wherever. While you may say they will come to USCe regardless, your coaches still have to waste unnecessary time making sure of that. This was a pitiful job of recruiting and there is no way around that.

Of course, for now, this is all speculation. I'm just assuming 8 of 21 won't make it in because you're acting like it wouldn't be a big deal if they didn't.

2015 class is currently ranked what, 2? 3? 4?

With what, 3? 4? DBs?

You can figure it out I'm sure.

BTW, your post is reasonable but, "BIg News?" Really? Meh ... I guess we've arrived. I suppose it's a good thing and all we Gamecock fans should just get used to it and be happy about the attention. With the success comes the judgement and the jealously.

Ok, first of all, I think that the comments are USC's secondary are overblown. They have been coached well there for years, and I'm sure they will have a decent secondary in 2014.

That being said, the spin that some USCe fans are putting on this is ridiculous. Anytime you are going to lose (maybe) 8 players of 21 recruited, for academic issues, that is a HUGE problem in recruiting.

That basically means, that unless the 13 remaining players are all successful, that the 2013 class is already a total bust, before many of them even step on campus.

That might not matter in 2014, or even 2015. But in 2016 and 2017, the holes from that class can be felt. That's how recruiting works in college.

To deny it has any meaning whatsoever, and that we're all only hating is fricking stupid. It matters. Recruiting matters.

I'm sure USCe will be fine in the short term though. Although, I bet, to a man, that they all wish those kids were on campus and contributing.
