If we really wanted to split hairs, we could apply the same logic to marshall as we do to darren mcfadden's passing stats.

People are focused first and foremost on stopping AU's run game. Not just the RBs, but obviously marshall as well. NM averaged what..something like 17 throws a game? If your starting QB is averaging throwing the ball only 4 times per quarter, teams probably aren't going to be very focused on taking that element away. A lot of NM's success as a passer, in my opinion, is due to teams not expecting him to throw. Granted, he still has to make the throws of course, but a 59% completion for marshall isn't quite as impressive as if he were a pro-style guy throwing it 30 times a game.

Nothing you said above is untrue. And I agree with it all.

But none of it indicates that Nick Marshall is NOT an accurate passer. If you complete right at 60% of the passes you throw, you are reasonably accurate. He can only attempt the throws he's allowed to attempt.

Oh, wait... one disagreement. Comparing Marshall's passing stats to McFadden's passing stats is knocking on the door of preposterous.

I wasn't comparing their stats, I was comparing the logic behind them. Both of those players benefit from having the passing stats they do because defenses are not expecting them to throw it often. Which leads to more people being open, looser coverage, etc.
