Correct, they went 7-6 their first year and lost to some pretty bad teams, including louisiana-monroe. Can you imagine if that happened to us?

But as you said, he changed the culture. Our culture now, I imagine, is going to be similar if not essentially the same as it was undef VanGorder. Fun time is over, people are going to respect if not downright fear our defensive coaches. Willie was the 180 degree opposite wanting to be pals with everyone, and while grantham had the right hard nosed attitude, he didn't have the on field results to back it up (in addition to not being very good at his job).

What we had from 01-04 was an absolutely perfect dynamic, something that bama has had since 2008. It looks like we're getting back to that, which is good.
