Because people don't realize that mighty Notre Dame with all its elite ways and prestige came to lowly Itta Bena fricking Mississippi to play Mississippi Valley in baseball in the last 10 years. So ND went somewhere to play that even Mississippi State is too good to go

ND has NO reason to play MS State
It would be considered as one of those infamous "trap games"; a game that the Irish SHOULD win and would be expected to win, but one that they could lose.
There is NO upside to beating 'Sippi State (or Ole Miss either), but the downside is tremendous.
UGA on the other hand is a perfect matchup for the Irish. The game would likely be considered a tossup, and win or lose, the Irish look good for scheduling and playing the games.
The ONLY downside possible would be a blowout loss, which is highly unlikely.
The Irish already have inroads into Georgia with their ACC tie in. They will play GA Tech in Atlanta; my guess is that it will be sooner than later. ND & GT have a history.
I'll be very surprised if this game does not get booked; especially now that the SEC has decided to stay with an 8 game schedule.
The truth is that UGA is a bigger brand name than 'Sippi State and a better game. It is a prime time type game. State just does not have the clout that UGA does. Call it a flame if you want, but it is what it is...
