Bumping this old thread because I'm now fighting this too and this was one of the top results in a google search. I normally take Clartin in the fall or spring for allergies and go off it for months at a time. After last fall I found that after 2-3 days of not taking Clartin I would start getting itching all over. Thinking it was some type of allergic reaction I would take a clartin and it would go away in 10-20 minutes. After several months of this I've come to realize that it's like clockwork 24-48 hours after stopping clartin the itching comes. I think I ruled out environmental factors after I still got the itching on a week long Disney cruise. Dr prescribed me singulair and even if I'm taking the singulair I still get the itching 24-48 hours after not taking a Clartin. Tried cold turkey and that didn't work at all. Going to try tapering off the dosage and see if I can wean myself off of it.

In my non-medical opinion you have the crabs or are having withdrawals. Hope this helps
